Facilities Management Maintaining American University's buildings and equipment
Facilities Management's mission is to effectively operate and maintain a safe, functional, clean, and attractive living and learning environment at American University.
We maintain and improve the university's facilities. Our teams are comprised of experienced professionals who are skilled in a broad range of trades and technical disciplines. We help to prevent facilities-related problems and, when needed, quickly investigate and solve problems.
All air handling unit filters are being upgraded with higher efficiency filters as per CDC guidelines. We will be bringing in as much outside air as possible without compromising indoor air quality. We have performed preventative maintenance on every unit on campus to make sure they are operating as designed. We have calibrated all controls to make sure they too are operating as designed.
For the Fall Semester Housekeeping has updated their scope of work. In addition to their regular cleaning services, a team of eight people have been added to the academic areas to sanitize high touch spaces from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Additionally, 14 housekeepers were added to residence halls to clean high touch areas and restrooms in the evening. Cleaning supplies will be provided to a designated staff member in each department for those who would like to disinfect more often in their area. Sanitizing stations have also been added to the main lobby and elevator lobbies of every building. The housekeeping team has been provided with proper PPE for both their own safety and the safety of everyone around campus. We look forward to a great and safe semester.
AU's shuttle services connects students, faculty, staff, and guests with main campus, the Washington College of Law, and the Tenleytown Metro station.
