As a graduate of American University, you may access unparalleled career services throughout your lifetime. Whether you reside inside or outside the Beltway, the Career Center is committed to helping you to manage your professional and academic pursuits.

ADVISING APPOINTMENTS

If you graduated more than one year ago, you may talk with our alumni career advisor, Anne Kirchgessner, about securing employment, changing careers, or pursuing an advanced degree. Thirty-minute appointments, conducted in person or via phone, are available most Wednesdays from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at no charge. To schedule an appointment, please call 202-885-1804. If you graduated within the last year, continue to utilize Career Center services as if you are a student.  

VIRTUAL TOOLS  

Utilize AU CareerWeb, your free and comprehensive career management tool, to search for jobs and internships specifically posted for AU alumni. To explore nationally competitive, merit-based scholarships that may enable you to study overseas, fund graduate education, or gain high-level work experience, search our National Scholarship Directory and learn more about the Office of Merit Awards.  

CONNECTIONS  

Establish valuable connections with fellow alumni who may offer career advice or opportunities through AU’s inCircle Online Community and join the Alumni Listserv to receive job announcements and other university updates. To join the listserv, send a message to listserv@american.edu, leaving the subject field blank and typing “SUBSCRIBE AUALUM-L [your first and last name]” into the body of the e-mail.

EVENTS AND PROGRAMS  

Participate in free events and programs to advance your job search and network with alumni and employers. Consult the calendar for upcoming job and internship fairs, networking receptions, employer information sessions, workshops, and presentations.
