This summer marks a season of heartfelt goodbyes and exciting new beginnings at the American University Career Center. As we celebrate the dedicated service and retirement of four incredible team members, we also reaffirm our unwavering commitment to supporting AU students in their career journeys and experiential learning pursuits.
After years of tireless service, we honor and celebrate the retirements of Gihan Fernando, Assistant Vice Provost of the AU Career Center, whose leadership has shaped the foundation and direction of career services at AU; Nancy Barker, Director of Administration, whose behind-the-scenes excellence has ensured the Career Center runs smoothly for both students and staff; John Charles, Career Advisor, whose thoughtful guidance and empathetic support have impacted countless students’ paths; Felicia Parks, Career Advisor, known for her unwavering support and dedication to student success through personalized coaching and mentoring.
We extend our deepest gratitude to these four remarkable individuals. Their legacy will live on through the students they’ve guided, the colleagues they’ve inspired, and the culture of care they helped build.
While we celebrate these retirements with warmth and respect, we also look forward with great enthusiasm. The AU Career Center remains steadfast in its mission to provide career and experiential learning opportunities for AU Eagles.
We are excited to welcome Elizabeth (Liz) Romig as the Interim Assistant Vice Provost of the AU Career Center. Liz brings a wealth of experience, a strong student-centered approach, and a deep commitment to experiential learning and to fostering a strong, welcoming AU community.
