Cornerstone DC features a program that allows you to graduate on time with your class. You will take required AU Core and courses that meet your intended major requirements. To learn more about AU Core, visit AU Core Curriculum.

AU Cornerstone D.C. students are required to maintain a 2.75 GPA while in the program. Program staff will engage students throughout the academic year to check their academic standing and make sure they receive necessary support. Students who do not adhere to the program GPA requirement may forgo their spot in the program.

Define Your FutureNav: Program Series

Cornerstone DC students are invited to participate in an exclusive programming series highlighting FutureNav Compass. FutureNav offers personalized career planning, durable and hard skills mapping, and job and internship placement opportunities. 

The Define Your FutureNav program series is designed to walk you through the platform, learn how to populate your skills and experiences, and curate potential career pathways for exploration. Students will participate in community and individual experiences focused on reflection, skill development, and practical instruction to jump start their career readiness.

Stepping Stones to Success

Cornerstone DC students may attend any number of internship/career preparation events hosted by the AU Career Center to support their development of career readiness skills. Attendance to these events will be tracked by Cornerstone staff, and students may be eligible to receive professional development perks for their participation.

Career Readiness Course

As a part of the AU Ready Pledge, Cornerstone DC students will have access to register for special sections* of the required career readiness courses, UGST-020 (0 cr.) and UGST-200 (1 cr.) in the Spring semester.

Cornerstone DC students join AU's largest living-learning community, University College (UC). In this program, students enroll in a complex problems seminar which satisfies an AU Core requirement.

Live

Students live together in first-year residence halls. Each floor has a theme inspired by a group of UC courses, which in turn inspires community events throughout the semester. 

University College housing is mandatory for first year students in the Cornerstone program. 

Learn

Courses are hand-picked Complex Problems seminars from the AU Core curriculum. The seminars create an environment for collaboration and communication across the classes.
