American University staff and faculty,
You may have heard about HR reinventing the hiring process to improve the employee experience and eliminate manual work for university departments.
Based on feedback from the community, we have transitioned to a new, online pre-boarding platform for new hire paperwork that:
- Makes the hiring process go faster;
- Creates a better experience for new employees;
- Eliminates the need for departments to pass out and collect paper forms;
- Provides departments with the ability to track new hire progress on document completion; and
- Ensures a secure information environment using the Equifax platform.
This process has been implemented for newly hired full time faculty and students. The new online pre-boarding platform will be implemented for full-time and part-time staff who are extended offers on or after October 7, 2019 with an anticipated start & orientation date of October 21 or later. The program roll-out will be complete when newly hired adjunct faculty are added to the platform in November.
Whether or not you are a hiring manager, we’d like you to be aware of what this means when AU hires a new employee. Because the online pre-boarding platform takes care of much of what used to happen once a person arrived for their first day, we now need hiring actions/ appointment paperwork 14 days in advance for full- and part-time faculty and staff, and 7 days in advance for students. The hiring action kicks off the online packet to be sent to the new hire, so it can be completed prior to their first day. We call this 14-7.
