Do you have funds left over from your 2017 Medical and/or Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)?
You still have time to submit claims against your 2017 Flexible Spending Account (FSA) balance for any eligible expenses you incur between January 1, 2017 through March 15, 2018. In accordance with the IRS grace period extension, purchases made with your Payflex card on or after January 1 will access any remaining funds from your 2017 Flexible Spending Account until they run out or when the FSA grace period ends on Thursday, March 15. Any remaining funds after March 15 will not roll over.
All 2017 flexible spending account claims must be submitted to PayFlex by Monday, April 30, 2018.
How do I submit an FSA claim?
You may submit your claims online or fax a claim form to Payflex.
To submit claims electronically
Visit the
Payflex website. You will need to have an online account. New payflex.com registrants, please note that your Member ID = your Social Security Number.
To submit claims by fax
Download and print a claim form on the myBenefits site via the myAU portal. Fax your completed claim form toll-free to PayFlex at (888) 238-3539.
Please contact Grace McKinnon at 202-885-3513 with any questions.
As American University migrates from the Ellucian Colleague platform to a SQL-based environment this summer, HR Payroll Connection will be transitioned gradually to different areas of the myAU Portal. As a result, you will notice a number of HR and payroll-related changes.
The first change will take effect on February 19, as Pay Advices detailing the calculations of your paycheck will become available as Earnings Statements on the Eagle Service platform, accessible through myAU Portal:
The information provided on the Earnings Statements will be similar to the information that was found on the Pay Advices, but presented in a PDF format.
In the new Eagle Service - Earnings Statements you will be able to access pay information for January 2016 through the present. However, pay information prior to January 2016 will be available on HR Payroll Connection only until April 30, 2018, so we recommend that you download and print them for your records, if necessary.
For more information, please contact the Payroll Office at 202-885-3520 or at payroll@american.edu.
You will be notified about other upcoming HR and Payroll-related changes as they take effect, including:
Fill your prescription in the most convenient way for you with Express Scripts® Smart90 CVS program. Under this new program, CareFirst participants can fill a 90-day prescription for maintenance medication at their local CVS pharmacy or via Express Scripts home delivery. Your co-payment for your 90-day prescription will be the same whether you fill it through home delivery or at a Smart90 network pharmacy.
What is the advantage of a 90-day versus a 30-day supply?
Ordering a 90-day supply of your medication will save you time with fewer trips to the pharmacy. You save money with only one payment every three months instead of three payments. Program participants can fill a 30-day supply at a retail pharmacy at the retail co-pay up to three times. Additional 30-day refills are subject to an additional $10 charge.
Your doctor or pharmacist can assist you in changing to a 90-day supply through home delivery or to your local CVS store, which is not subject to the additional charge.
